"This photo captures a torii gate right outside the Fushimi Inari shrine in Kyoto. The torii gate represents a spiritual barrier between the mundane and the sacred and I wanted to capture that in a photo that focuses less on the people walking through it and more on the gate itself. Its form, color, and scale all contribute to its powerful presence and the cultural significance it holds. Set against a clear sky this photo reminds me of the power and beauty these gates posses."
