This optional dental insurance is for visiting scholars with the Scholar health insurance (Ghallager Plan).
A U.S. social security number is required so only those with a U.S. social security number can apply. You will be given the option of obtaining a U.S. social security number when you check in at the Office of International Affairs.
Scholars can apply at any time.
Dental insurance is NOT required. However, if you would like to purchase dental insurance, learn more about your options.
Be aware! There is a waiting period of 6 months before you are eligible to receive some benefits and 12 months for some other benefits. Please take this into consideration BEFORE you purchase this dental insurance. Due to the waiting period before you are eligible to receive some benefits, it is NOT recommended for Short-Term Scholars to purchase this insurance.
Another option that is available to you is a discount card. This is NOT insurance. This IS a discount card. It provides savings on dental services, prescription drugs, vision care, and hearing care. For one flat yearly fee per household, you and any dependent family members accompanying you in the United States may use the discount card to receive a reduced payment on health care products and services from participating dentists and companies.
