Julia Belotto Guaraná

New Brazilian Buckeyes to Watch

In this series, the Brazil Gateway will feature new Brazilian scholars and students who are joining the Buckeye family. Julia Belotto Guaraná is a veterinary student at the University of São Paulo who will spend her last semester working with Joy Balta in the Ohio State College of Medicine's Division of Anatomy.

My name is Julia Belotto Guaraná, and I am a veterinary student at the University of São Paulo in Brazil. During this last semester of my degree, I'm working with Joy Balta as visiting scholar at the Ohio State College of Medicine Division of Anatomy. Dr. Balta and I secured a grant for this experience from the University of São Paulo Innovation Agency. Over the last three years of my academic journey, I've been involved with research in veterinary medical education and cadaver preservation techniques for surgical skills training.

I am very excited about the opportunity to work in the Balta Lab, investigating preservation techniques and expanding my knowledge in anatomy education. I believe this time at Ohio State will provide me with high-quality knowledge and significant scientific experience, leading to enormous academic development and properly preparing me for the next steps in my career.
