Nevaeh King

Nevaeh King is a junior studying animal sciences and minoring in the biological bases of psychology. She studied abroad on the Panama: Through the Lens of AgriCulture, Sustainability and Diversity during winter break 2023.

My experience was made memorable by getting to experience a new culture and learning about the culture through the lens of a local Panamanian. My favorite memory from the trip was going to the children’s school and making arts and crafts Christmas presents with them for their families.

It was important for me to go abroad because it gives me the opportunity to understand the world more and how different cultures interact with each other.

I have learned that I will never get the opportunity to travel out the country again and have an experience like the one I had while being in Panama unless I continue to travel and research before I go. I also learned to continue to have an open mind and be open to new experiences. I might encounter something that might seem odd at first, but it might just be one of the best experiences in my life.

I think being a global citizen means to be someone who has traveled abroad on one than more occasion and has made it a mission to use their experience in some way to impact their everyday lives.
