Area Studies Centers

The Area Studies Centers advance knowledge and awareness of international cultures and world regions. The centers work with Ohio State departments to identify programmatic needs, sponsor a wide range of academic activities including lectures, symposia, conferences and library resources, as well as outreach activities for P-12 students and teachers.

Our planet constantly faces many major complex health challenges. The Global One Health initiative (GOHi) works to stem and prevent these health crises around the globe. Ohio State proudly welcomes more than 6,000 international students and 1,500 international scholars who currently study, teach or conduct research on campus. The Office of International Affairs serves as the point of support for these students and scholars, assisting with the transition to life at Ohio State and in Columbus; providing social, cultural and educational programs; and answering questions related to personal concerns, cultural differences, immigration regulations and financial matters.

The Mershon Center for International Security Studies works to advance the understanding of national security in a global context. The center accomplishes its mission through the hiring of world-class faculty, funding interdisciplinary faculty and student research, and hosting an array of speakers, conferences and workshops on international security issues.
